International Blues CHallenge
Long Island on Beale Street
The Long Island Blues Society sends bands and solo/duo acts each year (well except this one, Corona and all) to Memphis for the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tenn.,
The challenge draws acts from across the world and our society has done well, with many reaching the final round and, in the 2020 challenge (the last one held), our own Felix Slim finished second and won the Lee Oskar best harmonica award.
Stay tuned for news about this year's challenge, where a panel of judges will pick Long Island's reps for the next challenge, schedule to run Jan. 19 through the 21st.
As part of the challenge, the LIBS also chooses a top self-produced CD, which competes with other recordings as part of the festivities in Memphis. Our last winner was Mark Newman's "Empirical Truth."
