Teachin' The Blues

We are dedicated to keeping the blues alive and one way we do that is offering on-line talks from Long Island's blues professionals talking  about a range of topics, from how to play, the history of the blues and influences to the business of music. Our Harmonica Guild is focused on the blues harp.
On Weds., June 1 at 8 pm we  featured MC Records' Mark Carpentieri. Mark has been marketing releases for his eight-time Grammy-nominated label  since 1996. Things have certainly changed since then but the goals are still the same.
Mark discussed how artists and bands could get their music distributed, best practices for a website, publicity and radio promotion.
The session, as they do each month,  aired live on our Facebook page.
Last month we featured the legendary David Bennet Cohen David is best known for his work as a guitarist and keyboard player for Country Joe and the Fish, The Blues Project, Johnny Winter and many others.
David focused on keyboards and his approach to crafting solos to conform to specific songs, rather than just ‘noodling’ while improvising. David addressed the art of making each solo unique.
You can find that and most of our past sessions posted  on our YouTube page.

New Harp players wanted

You don't have to suffer to play the blues, but it does help to get a little lesson along the way. The Blues Harmonica Guild wants to help. We are setting up a zoom session (or sessions) for beginner harp players. Little or no experience is required. E-mail Diane Kelly at BluesHarmonicaLI@gmail.com to find out hat you need to start.
